not sure if this is related at all, but I just noticed a Maybe there is something else, that's causing the overall slowness. Even in a completely empty project, in a completely empty tex file it takes around 7 seconds for the spell check underline to disappear. I am currently considering "<10 seconds" to be an excellent result. I also had some really slow times by replacing $(base64 /dev/urandom | head -c 16384) with $(base64 /dev/urandom | head -c 16384 | sed -e 's/^/\\/' -) (prefixing each "content" line with \, making it a latex command) I am not sure, if the number of files or their length is significant to be honest. I'll have to spend some more time bisecting this later. So maybe, the performance issue I reproduced with the script is a different one. Also, the improvement doesn't seem to happen for the actual project (not sure), only for the synthetic test. V0.7-alpha.70 seems to improve the situation, but I am currently having really inconsistent results with it (6-30 seconds), but that's still an improvement, when compared to the 1:00-1:30 times I've had before. But that is cached (since 0.6.9), so it should only be slow one time.Īs for your example (thanks for the script), I don't really notice any difference, in both cases the underline disappears between 0.5 and 1 second. So the number of files also makes a difference, (so it's not just the number of lines in a file, as I first thought) then I would think it has to do with the fileset we calculate. tex files and over 9000 lines total (literally). I did make some improvements in speed regarding the fileset. See the wiki for how to install an alpha version: (0.6.9 doesn't work in pycharm, sorry).Ĭan you perhaps check if installing the latest alpha build makes any difference? So I'm still not sure if the changes in 0.6.9 have anything to do with it, but apparently not in your example. That is already interesting, because recently someone claimed that downgrading to 0.6.8 helped to avoid this problem. Press "l" to complete the word to 'Neural' and record the amount of time it takes for the underline to disappear.
